Ross County Grand Jury: Not Enough Spray Paint to Cover Up

The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 15 of their cases on Friday, June 28th, 2024, with two open for release to the public. From testimony in the the grand jury in one of the cases, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:

On September 8th, 2022, Ross County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Eric Kocheran went to England Hollow Road in reference to a truck stolen from the Scioto Township Trustees.

He located the truck, which had been partly spray-painted, but part of “Scioto” was still visible. Kocheran contacted Tearance E. Strausbagh who lived there, and he said had gotten the truck from someone else.

This case has been stagnant because Sergeant Kocheran had been shot, and shot and killed his attacker, at the Ross County jail on November 17th, 2022. After being released from the hospital about a month later, he faced a long recovery. Kocheran had only recently returned to this case.

For an indictment on fifth-degree receiving stolen property, Strausbagh could get up to a year and $2,500 in fines.
