Artistic Barns Return to Chillicothe’s Pump House Again, Tuesday

The Pump House Center for the Arts is again hosting a Cincinnati artist who enjoys painting old barns.

As posted as an Event Page on the Facebook page of the Pump House:

April the 23rd will be our big Barn Day. Mr. Kroeger, Kevin Coleman and I will be going on a road trip around the county in search of old, dilapidated barns that are standing on their last leg of usefulness.

Dr. Kroeger contacted the Pump House a few years ago to see if we would be interested in helping him find historic barns to paint.

Dr. Kroeger uses a palette knife impasto painting style in his paintings. He paints on Masonite or linen panels. And with the oils applied with the palette knives, the colors seem to change with the reflection of the room light.

On April the 23rd we will be offering the barns that Dr. Kroeger and I found last April during the barn search last year. Each painting will be framed in barn wood and ready to hang.

You can do some research on Dr. Kroeger on www.barnart.weebly.com. We have both of his books for sale at the Pump House.

You can have him sign his book on April 23rd. Those in attendance will be able to enter a drawing for one of his framed originals valued at $300.

Learn more about Kroeger in my iHeart radio webstory from last year. (The images are gone, but the audio will still play.)

Also, the Chillicothe Art League’s Spring Open Exhibition continues with 85 artworks by 54 different artists on display through April 27th. The annual “Captured” photo show has its opening night May 2nd.
