Chillicothe’s Pump House Center for the Arts Showcased in Annual Meeting

The Pump House Center for the Arts held their annual meeting and summarized all they accomplished in 2023 in Ross County’s free public art gallery.

Director John Payne emceed and participated in the 12-part meeting March 14th. Among the subjects covered were grants for the Pump House, rentals of the building, the Southern Ohio Writer’s Guild, Juneteenth, Chillicothe Art League participation, the wine tasting event, and Art in the Streets.

Payne said the “Fix the Bricks” fundraiser has been a success, and they hope to start work on the outside of the 1880s building in September.

The Pump House has been expanding from its facility in Yoctangee Park. One outside event is “Art in the Streets,” the summer show in East Second Street. It was popular in 2023 and will be at about 150% this year, with music, bands, poets, and dancers. Payne says they are already getting calls to participate.
