Ross County Grand Jury, February 16th: Don’t Bring Your Gun to Ohio

The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 18 of their cases Friday, February 16th, 2024, with three open for release to the public.

In one of the cases, from testimony in the the grand jury, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:

On January 4th, Chillicothe Police were advised by a police department in South Carolina that they had a ping on the cell phone of a man wanted for a shooting.

The ping was at “America’s Best Value” motel at the east end of Main Street. Officers found his car there, which was under a family member’s name.

Chillicothe Police Detectives and the SWAT team found 37-year-old Ladarius J. Harris of Spartanburg, South Carolina, along with two others in a room at the hotel. They also found drugs and drug paraphernalia there. In the vehicle, they found paperwork for Harris, as well as a loaded Glock 9mm handgun and an extended Glock magazine.

Harris has a 2019 drug conviction in South Carolina that disables him for weapons.

For indictments on third degree felony for having weapons under disability, Harris could get up to three years and $10,000 in fines.
