The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 18 of their cases Friday, February 16th, 2024, with three open for release to the public.
In one of the cases, from testimony in the the grand jury, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:
On January 3rd, a Ross County Sheriff’s deputy was conducting speed enforcement on US 23 south near Trego Creek Road, when he clocked a car doing 98 miles an hour in the 55 zone. He activated his lights and gave pursuit of the Ford Escape.
The northbound driver showed no signs of slowing down, didn’t signal, and blew through a stop sign as she took the offramp onto northbound South Bridge Street. She almost wrecked at Cooks Hill Road, then pulled over and stopped.
She showed signs of impairment and did not obey commands to exit the vehicle, but finally did so at gunpoint and the assistance of a Chillicothe canine police officer with his dog.
Her breathalyzer blood-alcohol level was 0.213. The legal limit for DUI in Ohio is 0.08.
For indictments on third degree felony for failure to comply, and two first degree misdemeanors for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, 31-year-old Olivia L. Baker of Chillicothe could get up to four years and $12,000 in fines.
