Ross Grand Jury, January 12th: Don’t Take from Where You Don’t Belong

The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 19 of their cases on Friday, January 12th, with one case returned as a misdemeanor, and three others open for release to the public.

According to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office, from testimony in the the grand jury in one of the felony cases:

A resident of Safe Haven DARTS, a Drug Addiction Treatment Center, had told the program director that items were missing from inside a house they rent at 160 East Main Street.

On December 13th, a police officer was shown video of the of the house that showed 28-year-old Brandon G. Seward enter the house and take several items from the refrigerator at 3:41am.

Seward had not been a client for 10 days and had been assigned to a different house. The items were not of much value, but that was not his residence and he was not supposed to be there – thus, this qualified as burglary.

For indictments on second degree felony burglary, Seward could get up to eight years and $15,000 in fines.
