World Recognition of Local Earthworks Imminent

Ross County and Ancient Ohio — The “Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks” should get its vote early Tuesday morning local time.

A fifteen-year process has led up to the much-anticipated action that will put local prehistoric earthworks under an international spotlight, added to the list of “World Heritage” sites.

About noon Monday, the Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau released an email:

The moment we’ve been waiting for is expected to take place between 4am – 6am on Tuesday morning for the inscription of the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks to the UNESCO World Heritage List!
