'Tis the season for street paving, and this summer may be Chillicothe's biggest paving program. Kevin Coleman spoke with the mayor after Monday's council.
Mayor Luke Feeney says the list of streets and parking lots should be on the city's website soon. He says the 2023 paving program will probably be more than $2,000,000, and includes some long streets.
Among them are Belleview Avenue and Plyleys Lane....though Belleview will need to be rebidded since no contractor bid on the long and complicated project involving storm sewer and hillside work. Feeney says the city's estimate may have been too low because of inflation for a paving company to afford to do it, or the paving companies are too busy for the entire street.
Feeney says the city knows that closing long stretches can cause access problems, so they will do their best to communicate their schedule.
And, he says the gas company's digging should be paved over on a state highway in the city - ODOT plans to repave South Paint Street this summer, too.
