Chillicothe Tree Commission Has Free Trees & Shrubs

The Chillicothe Tree Commission is an award-winning, knowledgeable group that is part of the city and helps keep Chillicothe green. Kevin Coleman learned more about it after their meeting April 18th, 2023.

Clint Boggs used to be in Parks & Recreation, but is now the office manager for the mayor, and helps coordinate with the all-volunteer commission that has authority over trees only on city property like parks, and the public right-of-way like sidewalks and tree lawns.

Boggs says the commission has a "Re-Leaf" program to give away trees to city residents. You must promise to plant the flowering trees in the front or side of your yard where the public can see their beauty, but they are free and not too small - but there are only about 20 of them.

Boggs is the best contact person for the Tree Commission, and can be reached at 740 / 771-1185 or tree@chillicotheoh.gov.
