Chillicothe Council met their new member who represents the 4th Ward, Monday night. Kevin Coleman spoke with him.
Steve Barnes retired from the fire department as Assistant Fire Chief and volunteers for the Red Cross.
He said he was surprised by a call from the Ross County Republican party three weeks ago, where they said he could think about serving...but he had until the next morning, because that was the deadline to file to run for the fall election.
Barnes said he is an independent, but has gotten bipartisan support as a newbie councilman.
His Fourth Ward is roughly L-shaped, running north of Main and east of Douglas, and stairstepping northeastward from Walnut Street to the Bridge Street bridge...then along the Scioto River. The ward is in magenta, below.
Barnes replaces Terrell Fairrow, who resigned from council to pursue continuing education. Barnes said he welcomes call and texts at 740 / 703-0911, and soon should get a city email address.
