Chillicothe got a preliminary look at the comprehensive plan for the town last night, and Kevin Coleman was there.
Professional planner Brian Ashworth summarized the two-year effort as a publicly driven plan to establish a vision based on the opportunities and challenges of the community.
Ashworth pointed out that community input made three sites top priorities: developing housing on the Tiffin School and Riverside Street city building sites, and improving the southeast corner of Yoctangee Park.
About 150 people attended the gathering at the Ross County Service Center Wednesday evening and looked through drafts of the 138-page book and five displays drawn from it. After their comments are incorporated and the plan is presented to the city planning commission, the plan will be finished when council adopts it in one to two months.
Hear an interview with Ashworth below, and visit the plan's website and review the draft there.
