Ross County Community Action says they'll be keeping their shelter open for 24 hours on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Regular shelter hours are from 7pm to 9am daily, but the shelter will be open during daytime hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas.
They report the shelter is near capacity for sleeping cots, but it will welcome people over the holiday weekend if they need a warm place to go. It's in the Salvation Army Building at 171 East Fourth Street in Chillicothe.
A cold spell is expected over the weekend with single-digits forecasted for the overnight and daytime temperatures in the mid- to low teens.
Ross County Community Action is also maintaining a "Heroes for the Homeless" fundraiser.
