Chillicothe Council Hears About Movement on Wastewater Treatment Plant

Chillicothe Council heard that a major city project is gearing up...and it will be expensive. Kevin Coleman was there.

Mayor Luke Feeney said they now have bids for their long-planned rebuild of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is a huge project - more than $60,000,000.

He says the city will get a low-cost loan from the Ohio EPA, but council will also now consider an increase in water and sewer rates.

Feeney says the city can't just shut down the current plant to build a new one, but it will basically be a new facility. He says if bids are awarded early 2023, the city hopes it can be done in mid- to late 2026

He says the biggest thing the public should notice is no smell on that side of town.

Council also passed the revised Livestock Ordinance 5:4, with increased requirements for livestock housing placement and large livestock acreage.
