Friday's Ross County Grand Jury returned all 14 of their cases, with two open. According to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office:
In one, Chillicothe Police officers responded to Caldwell Street the night of September 10th. A resident said he was on his porch and witnessed a man breaking into cars, and when confronted, the suspect brandished a handgun and threatened him before walking away.
22-year-old Cayne C. Smith of Massieville Road was found nearby, and admitted to the 9mm found on him.
Because he was already under indictment for aggravated possession of drugs, he was newly indicted for having a weapon while under disability.
For that, Cayne could get up to three years and a $10,000 fine.
In another, a Chillicothe Police officer responded to a domestic violence complaint on Brownell Street around midnight October 15th to the 16th.
Three victims said 40-year-old Casey L. Potts was arguing with one of them, when he started to hit her, and another...and that he threw a third across the room, injuring her hand and shoulder. One had a cut on her eyebrow and was bleeding from the nose, and was diagnosed at the hospital with an orbital fracture.
Potts said his girlfriend had bitten him.
For indictments on two counts of felonious assault on the victim with the eye injury, and a count of assault for each of the two other victims, Potts could get up to 17 years and $32,000 in fines.
