Don't look for the Chillicothe Farmers Market at the Ross County Service Center this Saturday.
Their 4th annual winter season will be indoors...nearby. Kevin Coleman spoke to Mandy Way, one of the 14 market vendors, and also the market manager.
Until May, the market will be inside Bennett Hall at Ohio University-Chillicothe. Vendors will be spread through the hallways of the building, selling home-grown and locally produced products 10am to noon Saturdays.
Those include fresh seasonable produce and fruits, honey, eggs, maple syrup, hot sauce, and dried flowers. Meats include beef, pork, chicken, and turkey.
Way says the Chillicothe Farmers Market is an unusual market in that it is member-run. Their rules are that 75% of the products sold must be produced by the vendor, and the rest Ohio-sourced. Market members come from Ross, Highland, Pike, and Fayette counties.
They also have online ordering, and bonuses for WIC and food stamps purchases. Find them on their website and Facebook page. Way can also be reached as market manager at (740) 207-2701.
The Chillicothe Farmers Market will be 20 years old next spring.
