Chillicothe Council to Try Different Nominations to Health District

Chillicothe Council will try to make different nominations to the Ross County Health District...again. Kevin Coleman was there.

Council gave first reading to a resolution to appoint Dr. Richard Villareal and Dr. Brandy Spaulding to the Ross County Health District Board.

Kathy Payne said her human resources committee met four times, composed nine questions, and interviewed both candidates separately.

She said both bring something completely different to the board. Villareal works at Adena Regional Medical Center, and Spaulding works in Columbus.

Previous attempts to appoint former county coroner Dr. John Gabis to the board met with council opposition, and then public push-back to the opposition. Former council woman Ceil Corcoran was also in a rejected appointment from Mayor Luke Feeney.

Does Payne anticipate any problems with this slate? No, she said she expects go well with all involved so far being in favor of the candidates.

She says she will let the resolution go all three readings to allow any possible debate.

Auditor Krystal Spetnagel said department budget hearings will start soon to works towards the 2023 budget. And, Julie Preston said the committed (like being tabled) livestock and homeless camp ordinances are being reviewed by the Law Director.

Council passed 11 of their 17 items, nine on second or or first reading.

Council sessions are currently broadcast and archived only on YouTube; the login to broadcast on Facebook has been lost. (You may have to search for the latest video, since they may not show in the YouTube page.)
