2022 Ross County Junior Fair Night

An afternoon downpour did not dampen spirits in the Ross County Junior Fair Night Tuesday. Kevin Coleman was there for the energetic annual event at the Ross County Fair.

Meredith Robinson, the Ross County Junior Fair Board Vice President and 2022 Queen, emceed much of the event. She was assisted by Gabe Lynch, President and 4-H'er of the year.

Both offered advice for younger 4-H'ers, before they leave the board and go on to college: Get involved in 4-H as early and much as you can, and Junior Fair Night can be only the start for younger members. (Hear the interview below.)

A new event for younger kids was the "Barnyard Race." It involved flying hats, potatoes in tiny wheelbarrows, and eggs in spoons.

"Welcome to the 2000s Party" was the theme of the lip sync contest. 25 pies raised thousands of dollars for the Junior Fair, and 33 teens competed in the outhouse race...not without a few bent or tangled wheels.

At the end of the race, the Junior Fair Board jumped in to push an outhouse. But when the Senior Fair board tried to do the same, their outhouse mysteriously started smoking...and a fire truck had to ignominiously tow it.
