Chillicothe Council Finally Able to Pass a Few Items

With almost full attendance, Chillicothe Council finally passed some items they had been trying to pass for a few weeks. Kevin Coleman was in attendance.

Council was finally able to appropriate $300,000 to repair the sewer mainline at East Water and Watt Streets. A few attempts to pass it earlier were foiled by a lack of quorum.

Julie Preston said her two committed items, on livestock in the city and urban camping, are still being worked on, and she does not have a timeline for action on them.

She also saw an IT position added to the police department so an officer won't need to be taken off the road for computer issues. Preston said they can also work for the city in general, whose IT position has been vacant.

Greg Phillips saw his ordinance to make the city's $20,000 contribution to the Hope Partnership pass. Along with the county, they fund the effort to fight drug abuse and homelessness.

And the city can now apply for a grant from the Ohio EPA to help fund much-needed work on the sewer treatment plant.
