New Chillicothe Trolley Bus Very Popular

Our Kevin Coleman took a ride on the Chillicothe Trolley Bus Friday. He gives us this report...

The city's new red retro bus runs a loop through the downtown and Yoctangee Park on Fridays and Saturdays.

On only the third day of its operation, I asked Joe, the operator, how much ridership he's seen. He said it was "very, very heavy," and "people are coming from all over for a chance to ride on the trolley."

He also said the kids really love it.

The trolley had largely emptied at the city pool when I got on at 5 Friday afternoon. The route goes as far south as the Mighty Children's Museum, and it takes only 15 to 20 minutes to ride the whole loop. Joe said he makes the rounds about three times an hour.

On Tuesdays, the route doesn't go south of Main Street, but includes the three hotels on North Plaza Boulevard for visitors to Chillicothe.

The trolley is free to ride and is wheelchair accessible. Find a map and route information on the Trolley page in the Transit section of the city website.
