Kevin Coleman reports from Monday's Chillicothe Council.
The saga of the livestock ordinance is not over yet. On the eve of being passed, the the update on restrictions on keeping livestock within city limits was pulled.
Its sponsor, Julie Preston, said she needed to tweak it a little more regarding allowing 4-H animals. She says after discussion in a committee meeting, Preston had the legislation re-committed back to her committee just before passage, so she could adjust it.
But again council heard complaints of neighbors with too many animals and odors. Preston said the nuisance officer should be able to take care of that.
She says she expects to have the legislation passed in the next council session, June 13th.
Council heard about two ribbon cuttings and a few other events.
Parks & Recreation and Tourism chair Allison Henderson mentioned two new vehicles in the city.
The Chillicothe-Ross Public Library has a new bookmobile that will be commemorated 10am Thursday, June 9th, at the soccer fields off Western Avenue.
The city's new trolley bus will get a ribbon cutting Friday, June 10th, but details have not been released yet.
Henderson mentioned the city pool in Yoctangee Park is opening this Saturday. The pool has struggled to have enough lifeguards in the past, but she says they are close to their goal. The city is also offering inexpensive lifeguard classes to help attract employees.
Henderson also noted that Adena Mansion & Gardens has many events coming up, and the Chillicothe Paints have their first game June 2nd.
