The city will try to encourage yard sales a little differently this year, as mentioned in Chillicothe Council Monday.
Community Affairs chair Greg Phillips explained that a suggestion had been made to coordinate fee-free yard sales with each city section's large-item pickup.
Phillips said this means there will not be a city-wide yard sale extravaganza - but that each section can binge on yard sales for their own weekend, then unload, from about June 7th into the first week of July.
He said the city auditor will have to assess how it went, especially since her staff will have to look at a map to see when and where the permit is waived.
The enabling ordinance was passed on first reading.
