Chillicothe Council is done herding complaints about farm animals in the city.
Julie Preston heard the first reading of a revision of an old ordinance regulating livestock inside the city limits - an issue that has been hen-pecking council for a few years.
She said it has been an issue for council since 2019, but started its three-reading cycle Monday night. She said it was really not a sticky issue, but council was simply unsure what to do with it.
Preston says it was mainly cleaning up and updating old city code, with the assistance of Assistant Law Director Jason Miller. That included getting rid of regulations of stockyards since none of them are in the city any more, and specifying what animals it covers with what stipulations.
Preston said some residents who already had livestock appeared to be content with the legislative work in the committee meeting.
