Ross County Grand Jury: High Speed Chillicothe Chase, Head Butting Officer

Friday's Ross County Grand Jury returned all nine of their cases, with three open.

In one of them, according to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office - at about 1am October 3rd a Chillicothe police officer saw a Kia Soul with expired plates at Main and Bridge, and activated his lights.

The driver then sped through the red light, and reached speeds up to 70 miles an hour in a winding route on Main, Fourth, and Walnut streets, as he was herded by three police cruisers into dead-end Lincoln Park, where officers drew their guns on him.

But he reversed into a cruiser, causing about $1,300 of damage, before being able to drive away. The driver's plates were traced to his home in Peebles where they located him and his car...and he admitted he ran because he had a suspended license.

For indictments on failure to comply and vandalism, 27-year-old Cole E. Fife could get up to four years and $12,500 in fines.

In another, according to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office...on August 27th, 25-year-old Shelby E. Speakman was at Adena Regional Medical Center with her mother, wanting to visit a patient there.

They were told they could not, and had to leave. Speakman was being escorted out when she ripped the name tag off the hospital police officer, and head-butted her. After Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to assist, she admitted to the act.

For an indictment on assault, she could get up to 18 months and $5,000 in fines.
