Pike County Sheriff’s Deputy Treated for Exposure to Drugs

A Pike County Sheriff’s Deputy was treated earlier this week for exposure to a dangerous substance.

Travis McKenzie became ill after being exposed to a white powdery substance while responding to an area near Long Fork and Cabin Creek Roads at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, October 31st.

He had been responding to a report of a man walking in the middle of the road. During the interaction with 31-year-old Jesse Johnson of Piketon, Deputy McKenzie was exposed to the substance and began feeling ill.

He was taken to Adena Greenfield for treatment. The suspect was also taken to the hospital and treated for the exposure. Both were treated and released.

Johnson has since been charged with two counts each possession of drugs, evidence tampering, and felonious assault.
