Funding Available for Emergency Food & Shelter in Ross County

The Ross County Community Action Commission has announced that funds are available for Emergency Food & Shelter...but it's on a very tight deadline, which is Monday.

The Emergency Food & Shelter National Board has announced that Phase 38 funds available for Ross County is $34,981.00, an increase of $2,068.00 from Phase 37. The local agencies and amounts received from Phase 37 are as follows:

• Ross County Community Action Men’s Shelter $19,130.00

• Good Samaritan Network of Ross County $9,775.00

• Ross Co. Coalition Against Domestic Violence $3,258.00

• OSU Extension Super Cupboard Program $750.00

In addition to Phase 37 funds, the Emergency Food & Shelter National Board also allocated additional CARES funding to Ross County in 2020. The amount for Phase CARES was $40,925. The local agencies and amounts received from Phase CARES are as follows:

• Ross County Community Action Men’s Shelter $21,956.00

• The Salvation Army $15,000.00

• Good Samaritan Network of Ross County $4,077.00

• Ross Co. Coalition Against Domestic Violence $4692.00

• OSU Extension Super Cupboard Program $1200.00

Besides a 2 % administration fee, program funds can be used to provide only the following, as determined by the Local Board in funded jurisdictions, up to a $300.00 limit per item:

• Food, in the form of served meals or groceries.

• Lodging in a mass shelter or hotel.

• One month's rent or mortgage payment.

• One month's utility bill.

• Equipment necessary to feed or shelter people.

Local organizations, whether nonprofit or governmental, may request these funds. The Local Board is responsible for considering all applications, and for determining which organizations will receive funds. The Local Board also determines which services are funded.

Letters of Interest, from any qualified agency not funded in Phase 38, should state the proposed use of funds and the amount requested. The deadline for letter submission is Monday, September 13, 2021.
