Ross County Junior Fair Night

The exuberance of youth having fun at the fair - as well as cheering from parents, grandparents, siblings, and past 4-H members - filled the grandstand of the Ross County Fair Tuesday evening during the Outhouse Races, Apple Pie Contest, Lip Sync Contest, and Calf Scramble. The first annual Pie Eating Contest was a new additional event.

Emcees Todd Holdren and Dan Riddle, who calculate they have served for 31 years, signed off on their last appearance in the roles. They say 4-H brought them together, and they have enjoyed the energy and excitement of Tuesday nights at the fair.

Outhouse Races

With 22 clubs, after eight heats and four rounds, Jefferson Livestock won.

3. Country Freebirds staged a Freddie Mercury dating game
4. Amazing Country Kids with a "Queen" calf scramble
5. Hallsville Friendly Neighbors did a '70s medley dance

Calf Scramble

Eleven 4-Hers scrambled to haul one of eight calves into a circle on the wet dirt racetrack to claim it as a project for next year's fair. One of the remaining contestants won the drawing for an additional calf.
