A Chillicothe man has been indicted on multiple charges including murder, reckless homicide, and involuntary manslaughter for the April stabbing of a 40-year-old Chillicothe woman.
Chad J. Kuntz, 40, of Chillicothe was indicted by the Ross County Grand Jury, Friday, on charges of second-degree felony felonious assault, third-degree felony involuntary manslaughter, third-degree felony reckless homicide, and a special count of felony murder.
Kuntz is accused in the death of Gloria Speakman, 40, of Chillicothe, who was found with a knife wound to her head, following a traffic collision in the 11-hundred block of East Main Street, shortly before 1:00 a.m. on April 14th. Chillicothe Police said the crash took place following a disturbance at America’s Best Value Inn. Speakman died of her injuries a few days later.
If convicted on the special charge of murder, Kuntz could be sentenced to 15 year to life. He faces up to 8 years for the charge of felonious assault, and up to 36 months for the charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless homicide.
Friday’s Grand Jury session also saw two other cases opened to the public:
Jeremy L. Lewis, 33, of Chillicothe, was indicted on third-degree felony counts of robbery and grand theft. According to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office, the offenses took place on April 29 of 2021 when Chillicothe Police were called to the parking lot at Rally’s, located at the corner of Water and Bridge Streets, in regard to a domestic situation.
Lewis and his girlfriend are reported to have stopped at the restaurant for bite to eat when an argument broke out between the two, leading to an altercation in the parking lot. The girlfriend’s sister happened to be driving past the eatery at the time of the incident and witnessed the altercation taking place. The sister pulled into the lot, and following an exchange of words with Lewis, she attempted to pull out a concealed handgun, telling authorities she had been in fear for her life. While pulling the weapon though, Lewis is alleged to have restrained the sister, taking her gun from her. He is then reported to have fled the scene.
Lewis faces up to 8 years for the robbery charge, and up to 36 months for the charge of grand theft.
The third open case from Friday saw Cameron S. Napier, 23, of Chillicothe, indicted on two counts of fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property. This offense took place on March 1 of 2021 when Napier was found to be in possession of two stolen visa cards.
In total, the Ross County Grand Jury was presented with twelve cases on Friday. All twelve were returned as true bills, but only these three were open to the public.
