A request for the City of Chillicothe to show support for the "Protecting the Right to Organize Act," or PRO Act is under consideration in a Chillicothe City Council committee.
The act provides protections for workers trying to organized and strengthens workers’ rights. It was recently passed by the U.S. House and is now being considered by the U.S. Senate.
The city of Chillicothe employs workers in three separate unions - AFSCME, the FOP, and the IAFF - and many resident of the community have a connection to organized labor, according to Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney, who submitted the request.
The mayor is asking that council consider passing a resolution that would support Congress passing the PRO Act.
