City of Chillicothe considering Safe Routes to School Project

The City of Chillicothe is looking to enter into the Safe Routes to School Project. A request for authorization for the City to prepare and execute an application for the project is under consideration in Chillicothe City Council committee.

The Safe Routes to School Project is an approach that promotes walking and bicycling to school through infrastructure improvements, enforcement, tools, safety education, and incentives. It's promoted by the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Funds would be used for the planning, design, and/or construction of projects that will improve the built environment for students to walk and bike to school.
