Adena Win & Unioto Loss Gives Warriors Undisputed SVC Boys Basketball Title

An 80% shooting third quarter and Logan Bennett's 27 points lifted the Adena Warriors past Paint Valley 66-45, to conclude both teams SVC regular season. The Adena win coupled with Westfall's 51-37 upset win over Unioto allowed the Warriors to wrap up the undisputed SVC crown with a (13-1) record.

Paint Valley was close, trailing 29-23 at halftime, then the Warriors offense exploded in the third quarter on 12/15 shooting for 80% from the field, scoring 27 points in that period.

Adena also had double figures from Jacob Shipley and Jarrett Garrison with 14 and 13 points respectively. Preston Sykes added 8 point and 9 rebounds, before fouling out late in the game.

Paint Valley was led Cordell Grubb's 12 points, followed by Traden Jeffers' 9 points and 8 from Dax Estep.

Adena shot 24/44 from the field for the game- including 12/23 from the arc for 55%. They added 5/8 from the foul line and outrebounded the Bearcats 23-15.

Paint Valley was 17/42 from the field for 40%- including 3/8 from the arc. They added 8/12 from the foul line. Adena committed 16 turnovers to 11 for the Bearcats.

Adena wins their first SVC boys basketball title since the 2005-06 season, improving to (13-1/19-2). The Warriors will attempt to play a non-conference game at Waverly on Tuesday night, weather permitting as the National Weather Service is calling for a winter storm Sunday night through Tuesday.

Paint Valley drops to (4-10/7-14). While the Warriors are Division 3 in the post-season, Paint Valley will be Division 4.
