The "Best of Ross County" can be seen at the Pump House Center for the Arts this month. The annual juried show for high school students with cash prizes opened Thursday evening and our Kevin Coleman was there.
Jaycey Longcoy's pencil sketch imaginatively combined a current political issue with a meme from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The Unioto senior won second place with a quotation from Michelangelo's Renaissance masterpiece and chain-link fencing.
Lizzy Miller's colored pencil sketch illustrates living with COVID-19, with a gas mask sprouting flowers...and leaking blood. The CHS junior won first place.
Savannah Fout's painting adds surrealist imagery to a photo of Taylor Swift. The CHS sophomore won best of show, and will invest her winnings into framing for her upcoming show at the Pump House.
