Adena Nears SVC Girls Title By Topping Paint Valley

The Adena Lady Warriors stay unbeaten in the SVC while virtually knocking Paint Valley from the conference title hunt with a 43-25 victory in Frankfort. The loss is Paint Valley's fourth SVC loss with four to play.

Southeastern also now has four SVC losses following a 48-36 upset loss to Zane Trace.

Freshman Emma Garrison led the charge for Adena, scoring 14 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Cheyanne Ater had 6 points and 5 rebounds, while Makaela and Makenna Lovely along with Kiera Williams each had 5 points. Jadyn Smith added 4, Calean Miner with 2 and Sydney Foglesong 1.

Paint Valley's Olivia Smith had 9 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Kendall Dye's 6 points/6 rebounds, while Abbi Stanforth scored 5, Averi McFadden 4 and Katelyn Weber 2.

The Lady Warriors led after each stop, grabbing a 14-6 lead after one period, 24-19 at half, 37-21 after three and the final of 43-25.

Adena shot 15/39 from the field for 38%- including 5/11 from the arc and added 8/15 from the foul line. Paint Valley shot only 10/36 for 28%- including 1/11 from the arc and added 4/11 from the free throw line.

Despite the loss, Paint Valley dominated the glass with a 32-22 rebounding advantage, but turned the ball over 15 times compared to 11 for Adena.

Adena improves to (9-0/13-2) and Paint Valley drops to (6-4/9-6).
