The Chillicothe Cavaliers picked up their first win of the 2020-21 boys basketball season with a 40-36 non conference win over the Vinton County Vikings, Tuesday at Hatton Gym.
The Cavs trailed 23-17 at halftime and 31-26 after three quarters, but outscored the Vikings 14-5 in the final stanza for the victory.
Chillicothe had two men in double figures with Max Lee's 14 points and 11 from Joel Barnes. Donovin Baker, Jaiden Cain and Mike Miller combined for the remaining 15 points.
The Vikings were led by Lance Montgomery's 12 points.
Chillicothe shot 16/42 for38% from the floor- including 2/13 from the arc. They added 6/15 from the charity stripe. Vinton County was 13/44- including 2/15 from the arc for 30% from the field, but was 8/11 at the foul line.
Chillicothe's game with Miami Trace this Friday has been postponed due to COVID among the Panthers team, but will play at Cambridge on Saturday, January 16th. News Radio WBEX will not provide coverage of that game, as we will be broadcasting the Lady Cavs at home vs Washington CH.
