(Chillicothe, Ohio) -- Fluor-BWXT, in conjunction with the Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio (JEDISO), recently awarded General Fasteners with a grant valued at $25,218.
"We are pleased to continue our support in the growth of the economy of Ross County,” said JD Dowell, Fluor-BWXT Site Project Director. “Companies like this are bringing good jobs to the area.”
Though new to Chillicothe, General Fasteners, based in Livonia, Michigan, has a long history of distributing fasteners and assembly components to manufacturers throughout North America. The Chillicothe distribution center at 1101 River Road, is primarily focused on supplying the nearby Kenworth assembly plant.
“We are excited to welcome General Fasteners to Ross County,” said Ross County Economic Development Director Tammy Eallonardo. “The Kenworth plant is fed by a supply chain comprised of great companies like this and a local workforce that makes them strong. We are proud to support them.”
Fluor-BWXT is currently decommissioning and cleaning up the former uranium enrichment plant in Pike County. The company sets aside dollars each year to invest back into the JEDISO region (Ross, Pike, Scioto and Jackson Counties) to help build a healthy and sustainable economy for the future.
Fluor-BWXT has provided more than $4 million in economic grants since 2012, which has helped create approximately 900 jobs and retain another 450 in southern Ohio.
