The Ohio House of Representatives has voted 90-0 to oust Larry Householder as Speaker of the House after he was charged in a bribery investigation. The House vote came less than one hour after Householder was indicted by a federal grand jury.
9 House members abstained from voting.
The removal of Householder as speaker is immediate but, he does keep his seat in the legislature. Householder faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of conspiracy to commit racketeering.
Lima Republican lawmaker and former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Bob Cupp is the new Ohio Speaker of the House, after the legislative body kicked Larry Householder out of the position following his federal indictments on bribery charges.
