OHSAA Changing Rules For Football Playoffs Due To Pandemic

(24/7 Sports) -- Changes are coming to high school football in Ohio amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ohio High School Athletic Association is waiving the eight-game regular season requirement for teams to make the playoffs.

Instead, officials say the proposal would mean there will not be a minimum requirement for teams to qualify, since the Harbin Computer System is based on weekly point average.

The playoff still would take the top 8 teams per region after regular season play.

It would also have the higher seeded teams hosting playoff games up through the regional semis.

August 1st is the first day of sports practices in Ohio, if fall sports are permitted to proceed.
