Still No Timetable For NBA; Players May Loose Salary

(New York, NY) -- There's still no plan either way. That's according to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

He says the Association is committed to resuming the season, but there is no timetable for either picking up play again or canceling the 2019-20 season, which has been suspended due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Following a virtual meeting with the board of governors Friday, the league is still not in a position to make any decisions.

Silver said the league is monitoring the number of cases and the availability of testing on a large scale.

Starting May 15, NBA players will have 25 percent of their paychecks taken out, after a decision was finalized during a board of governors meeting, done in concert with the players' association.

Players will still be paid in full on May 1, but if none of the 259 outstanding regular-season games are played, the players would lose roughly $800 million in gross salary.
