Successful Chillicothe Council Videoconference Session

Monday evening, Chillicothe Council had a successful videoconference session as a legal workaround to health restrictions.

Council president Bruce Arnold was congratulated for pulling together the effort, which involved projecting the "Brady Bunch"-like tiled computer screen on a wall, then training a council chamber's camera on it, so the public could view it on the two government-access cable channels.

Parks & Rec chair Ceil Corcoran saw her ordinance pass, for the city to provide $50,000 dollars for its half of a state grant to treat or mitigate ailing and dying ash trees.

She said it would provide a mobile saw mill, and "tree-for-tree" replacements...but the city's expense will be mainly in-kind effort on the trees affected by the emerald ash borer.

Finance chair Dustin Proehl saw his part of a statewide effort pass, also. It was a resolution to "strongly urge" the Ohio Governor and General Assembly to restore the Local Government Fund to pre-recession levels.

That is the main sales tax revenue sharing mechanism Ohio has with its local governments dating back to 1934, which was severely cut back after 2008.

Council sessions can be regularly viewed on cable channels Horizon 2 and Spectrum 1021.
