During this time of social distancing, the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce and the Ross County Health District wants everyone to help our businesses through the uncertainty with their #BeSafeThinkLocal contest.
The online contest reminds the community to be safe and practice social distancing by avoiding large crowds and utilizing online ordering, delivery service, or curbside pick-up. They’re also asking the community to think local when shopping for their essential items and help Chillicothe’s small businesses.
The contest asks the community to snap a picture supporting local businesses: a photo of curbside pick-up, a receipt using the drive-thru, or a screenshot of online ordering. To enter, the contestant must tag the local business, tag the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce and use #BeSafeThinkLocal.
“This is an unusual time, and our small businesses are taking a huge hit. Those small businesses, in regular times, employ local people, support local projects, and provide great services to the community,” said Mike Throne, president and CEO of the Chamber. “While we want people to be safe and practice proper social distancing, we believe our businesses offer something that accomplishes that goal, while also helping to support entrepreneurs in a tough time.”
Other entries to be accepted include posts of people practicing social distancing—a selfie reading a book, taking a walk at a local park, or playing a board game with your family.
“We understand this stressful time can increase anxiety, fear, and depression. We want to encourage the community to get creative in the ways they connect with others, safely, to take care of their mental well-being,” said Ben Avery, Ross County Health District Administrator. “Ross County is lucky to have a variety of resources that are still accessible during this time, including local restaurants, stores, and beautiful parks and want to encourage families to utilize those resources.”
The Chamber will select a gift card winner at the end of the month, for each month these precautions are in effect. For full rules, visit Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce on Facebook.
