Chillicothe Cavs Win D-1 Sectional Title Over Marysville

The Chillicothe Cavaliers quickly shook off the rust of not playing for two weeks in their 62-48 Division 1 Sectional Championship over Marysville Friday at Hatton Memorial Gym.

Chillicothe led at every stop with leads of 13-5 after one, 31-19 at halftime, 43-30 after three and the final of 62-48. In the win, the Cavs defense held second team Central District Jack Christian to only 6 points.

Tre Beard was one of three Cavs in double figures, leading the way with 19 points, followed by Jayvon Maughmer's 18 points and 6 rebounds, then Brandon Noel's 12 points/11 rebounds.

Marysville was led by Joey Duke and Garrett Taylor, each with 12 points.

Chillicothe shot 24/44 from the field for 55%- including 6/19 from the arc and added 6/10 from the free throw line. Marysville shot 18/40 from the floor- including 5/14 from the arc and added 6/10 from the line. The Cavs won the rebounding battle 28-23, with the Monarchs committing 10 turnovers and the Cavaliers 7.

Chillicothe improves to (19-4) and now face Pickerington North in the district semis, March 4th at 7pm. The game site will be announced by the Central District, sometime Sunday. Marysville ends their season at (15-9).
