The Chillicothe Cavaliers finished off a perfect conference record of 10-0 with an 84-47 win over Greenfield McClain. The championship is the third in three years for boys basketball and marks a 29-1 conference record for the current group of seniors.

The win also saw a second Cavalier reach 1000 career points, as Jayvon Maughmer hit his 1000th point in the first half. Maughmer joins teammate Brandon Noel in the 1000 point club.

Maughmer and Noel led the Cavs scoring barrage against McClain as Maughmer notched a career high 28 points and a Noel added 19 in less than three quarters.

The Cavalier transition game was back in full force as they netted 47 points in the first half. Chillicothe nailed 36 of 59 shots for 61% and were a perfect 8-8 from the foul line.

McClain, who finishes 3-7 in FAC play, hit 17 of 44 shots for 38% and were 7 of 19 from three point range for 36%. The Tigers did suffer 15 turnovers that produced 18 Cavalier points.

McClain was led by a trio of sophomores as Bryson Badgley notched 17, Preston Saunders added 12, and Braden Wright scored 11.

Chillicothe is now off for two weeks when they host either Westerville North or Marysville in a central district sectional final on February 28. The Cavs finish the regular season at 18-4.

McClain claimed the junior varsity championship by breaking a first place tie with Chillicothe with a 28-27 win. The Tigers claimed the win when Chillicothe was whistled for a controversial foul on a Tiger desperation 30 foot shot at the buzzer. The McClain free throw broke the tie and won the JV title for McClain.
