Having another week off between games seemed to energize the Cavaliers again, as they jumped out to a 20-4 first quarter lead and dominated the visiting Miami Trace Panthers 75-39.

Early on Chillicothe was patient against the Panther zone defense and got the ball behind the zone to big man Brandon Noel for four quick baskets and an 8-0 lead.

The Cavaliers scored 16 unanswered points before Miami Trace got on the scoreboard. The Panthers hit three trifectas early in the second quarter to briefly come back to a single figure deficit, but Chillicothe went on another run to lead 36-15 at half.

The Cavs were led by Noel who had 23 points in under three quarters of play. Jayvon Maughmer was outstanding with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Ten Cavaliers put points in the book.

6’7” Freshman Andrew Guthrie led the Panthers with 11 points and junior Logan Rodgers added 10.

Chillicothe shot a hot 65% on 31 of 48 shooting and wound up 5-13 on three point shots.

Miami Trace finished the game 17 of 43 for 40% and did not shoot any free throws. The other big stat was a 31-16 rebounding advantage for Chillicothe despite the Panthers having three players 6’6” or taller.

Miami Trace finishes the FAC at 6-4 and moves to 12-9 overall. The Cavaliers, who face three FAC make up games this week, are now 16-4 and 8-0. Chillicothe can clinch the FAC Thursday when they host second place Jackson. The Ironmen’s only league loss was to Chillicothe.
