Chillicothe Back On Track With 65-42 Win Over Logan

After not playing for a week and only practicing once in six days, Coach Eric Huffer was unsure how his Cavaliers would come out against Logan. The answer was a quick start as Chillicothe scored 21 points in the first quarter and led 40-10 at halftime and cruised to a 65-42 victory.

.

The Cavs hit 6 of their first 9 threes, owned the boards, and seemed to contest every Logan shot in storming to a 30 point advantage in the first 16 minutes. The Chieftains only scored three points in the second quarter.

.

Coach Huffer mixed his lineups and used his bench in the second half as Logan did manage to get within 14 points before the Cavs finished out the win.

.

Offensively the Cavaliers were again led by their big three seniors. Center Brandon Noel had a memorable night scoring his 1,000th career point with 25 game points and 12-12 shooting from the foul line.

.

Jayvon Maughmer only missed two shots and nailed 4 of 4 three pointers on his way to 21 points. Tre Beard added 13 as the big three were 17-34 from the floor.

.

The Cavaliers were 18 of 43 for 41% from the floor and were a sizzling 20-23 from the foul line for 86%. Chillicothe owned a 29-18 rebound advantage.

.

Logan warmed up in the second half and wound up 13 of 33 from the field. Logan was led by sophomore Tegan Myers with 16 points (14 in the second half).

.

Chillicothe’s win stops a two game losing streak and sends the Cavs to 14-4 record on the year. The Cavs travel to Warren for a Thursday night make up and host Jackson in a big FAC game Saturday evening.
