The Cavaliers traveled to Athens County to face one of the top Division 3 schools in the southeast district, but had no trouble jumping on Alexander early in rolling to a 21 point halftime lead and cruised to an easy win, 67-41.

The Spartans were without their 6’11” center Caleb Terry who was injured a couple of weeks ago. The Cavaliers took advantage of their added height advantage to a 22-5 first quarter lead.

Chillicothe’s advantage came in altering Alexander shots inside and in grabbing defensive rebounds to start repeated early fast breaks.

Big man Brandon Noel nearly had a double/double in the first half. Noel scored 13 before intermission and played limited minutes in the second half. Jayvon Maughmer took advantage of his 6’6” size to repeatedly make smooth moves to the basket. Maughmer led all scorers with 17 points.

Junior Kam Smith added 12 for Chillicothe as eight Cavs scored and 13 Cavs saw playing time.

Alexander was led by freshman Kyler D’Augistino who notched 11 for the Spartans.

Chillicothe (10-1) returns home next Friday to begin the second round of FAC play hosting Hillsboro.
