Ross County Grand Jury Indicts on Drugs, DUI, Assaulting Officer

The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 23 of their cases Friday, with four open.

In one, according to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, Chillicothe police officers watching a suspected drug house executed a search warrant at 146 North Poplar Street on October 10th.

Inside they found 36-year-old Tywand L. Anderson of Chillicothe in the kitchen, but he ran into the bathroom. Behind the trash can in the kitchen, officers found drug paraphernalia and drugs later confirmed to be meth and opioid pills.

Previously, Anderson had been stopped after driving past the Chillicothe Municipal Courthouse on May 8th with no taillights. He was seen to reach his back seat, where a small bowl of meth was found in plain sight...of which he denied knowledge.

For three indictments on possession and aggravated possession of drugs, Anderson could get up to 4 1/2 years and $13,500 in fines.

On September 21st, a Highway Patrol trooper made a traffic stop on a car near Southern Avenue for speeding, and found that driver 51-year-old David B. Davis of Chillicothe had no valid license.

According to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, he also smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech, and lost his balance when he exited the vehicle. He refused a field sobriety test and a urine test, but blew .102 on a breathalyzer.

He admitted he had drunk four or five beers "watching the game."

Because he had previous OVI convictions, his two DUI indictments were raised to fifth degree felonies and Davis could get up to three years and $10,000 in fines on each.

On October 27th, a Chillicothe Police officer responded to a call on a domestic incident on 7th Street. According to the Ross County Prosecutor's Office, while speaking to the woman involved, the man was walking away and was slow to stop as commanded by the officer, who then had to handcuff him for security measures.

But 40-year-old Jonathan D. Sheets of Chillicothe pulled away and ended up striking the officer in the mouth with an open hand. The officer took him to the ground and secured him.

For an indictment of assaulting a peace officer, Sheets could get up to 18 months and $5,000 in fines. The woman admitted they had indulged in alcoholic drinks.
