The United Way of Ross County is now under the leadership of a new President and CEO. The agency’s local Board of Directors has selected Rick W. Smith to fill the role following an extensive and lengthy search to replace the former President and CEO, Kelli Yeager-Nelson.

Yeager-Nelson departed the local non-profit early last year. The role was then filled in the interim by former United Way President Cathy Whalen.

In his new role as President and CEO of the United Way of Ross County, Mr. Smith will lead the agency’s annual fundraising efforts and day-to-day functions.

Smith is a former news journalist and hospital administrator. He served in multiple roles during his more than twenty years in the healthcare industry. Smith also have nearly five years experience in the field of education. He most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Advancement and Chief Development Officer for the Kentucky College of Art & Design in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mr. Smith is also a long-time Rotarian, and sits on several boards including, the Kentucky Derby Festival, Leadership Louisville, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc, and the NAACP of Louisville.
