Ross County Auditor Tom Spetnagel Jr. has announced the winning essay in this year's "#1 Dog in Ross County" contest.
Out of about 75 essays, Olivia "Livi" McKee of Mrs. Carrie Hill's 4th grade class at Bishop Flaget Elementary School wrote about her dog Mack, including "In the event of a worldwide squirrel invasion, my dog Mack would be the commander in chief of the squirrel resistance."
On Friday, Spetnagel presented Livi with the coveted #1 dog tag, as well as a certificate and prize package filled with treats and goodies for Mack.
Livi was given a well-deserved round of applause. She was joined at this special occasion by her parents, classmates, teacher, and of course Mack.
Read her essay below. And, this is a reminder that Ross County's dog tag season is now underway and runs through January 31st.
