Slow-Speed Chase Leads to Tasering, Punch Thrown

Charges and a hospital visit resulted from a slow-speed pursuit and attack of a trooper Thursday.

The Highway Patrol report they initiated a traffic stop for an equipment violation in Bainbridge about 11pm August 29th.

Driver 33-year-old Russel Herman of Chillicothe finally stopped on US 50 near SR 41, but failed to exit the vehicle. He was tasered, but once outside his vehicle, Herman struck a trooper in the face, and sustained a laceration to his head when he was taken to the ground.

Both were transported to Adena Regional Medical Center by Paint and Paxton Township EMS, and later released with minor injuries.

Herman was incarcerated on charges of felonious assault, resisting arrest, possession of drugs and driving under suspension charges.
