Chillicothe officials are hoping lessons learned from mistakes made in development from over 50 years ago will prevent traffic problems being seen today in parts of the city.
.
Chillicothe City Engineer Dean Carroll says they try to limit access points on streets and says the problem in areas like Bridge Street, which was developed in the early 1960's, now makes it almost too expensive to correct in that location.
.
Newer street development makes more effort to limit street access by considering access roads and not having so many different access points in such a short space.
.
Current work in Chillicothe is being centered on an Ohio Department of Transportation project on Western Avenue and a city project on Woodbridge Avenue, which will slow traffic for the next few months.
