This is Memorial Day weekend, and several events are scheduled around the Ross County area.

A ceremony prior to Monday's holiday will be held Saturday during the Feast of the Flowering Moon. It'll begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Park in downtown Chillicothe. The Memorial Day Grand Parade takes place late Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m.

Ross County veterans organizations will host their annual memorial services on Monday. Memorial ceremonies take place at Grandview Cemetery at 9:00 a.m., St. Margaret's Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., Greenlawn Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., Rowland Cemetery near the fairgrounds at 12:00 p.m., and Floral Hills Cemetery on U.S. 23 south at 1:00 p.m.

Hallsville conducts its Memorial Day service on Monday at the Hallsville Methodist Church. The Adelphi Band will perform at 9:30 a.m. followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. with Todd Holdren as the speaker. The service will conclude at the Hallsville Cemetery.

The Chillicothe VA Medical Center invites the public to attend a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Joseph E. Quinlan All Faiths Memorial Chapel. In addition to attending memorial ceremonies, Americans young and old alike are encouraged to participate in The National Moment of Remembrance by pausing wherever they are at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day for a full minute of silence to remember and honor those who have died in service to our nation.

AmVets Post 2256 is also hosting a Memorial Day Cookout at the Chillicothe VA. That'll get underway at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at Building 9.

The Village of Bainbridge and the American Legion Post 14 will conduct a Memorial Day Parade, Monday. The parade starts at 1:45 p.m. and ends with a ceremony at the cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

There's also a Memorial Day Parade in Londonderry on Monday. It starts at 9:30 a.m.. The procession will head down Route 50 towards Friends Church. There'll be a 21 gun salute by the Scioto Valley Honor Guard at the church at the following the parade's conclusion. That'll be followed by a service at Friends Church.
